What's Healthy Eating:
When we were kids, mom would never allow us to eat out. It was in fact a taboo and would happen once in two, three months out of a blue moon. The recent US dietary guideline emphasis on a healthy, protein full and minimal processed food.
Let's break down what's healthy eating.
Healthy food needs to be just adequate in salt, sugar and less unhealthy fats and potentially no preservatives. A restaurant food goes strait against these principles.
Home cooked food uses more vegetables, healthy nutrients, lean protein and healthy oil.
Restaurant usually concentrate on large portions, carb rich...infact refined carb rich and protein deficient diet. If you're a vegetarian, your choices of adequate protein in restaurant meal becomes even more challenging.
Regular eating out usually leads to increased incidence of obesity, diabetes mellitus, hypertension and heart disease.
Especially with the cheap eateries, repeated reheating of oil, lower grade of vegetables and meat bought at whole sale makes it even more challenging.
So the bottom line is "Eat Simple, Eat Healthy, Eat at Home.
Kitchen is your first pharmacy.
I wouldn't say don't eat out. But eat out, consciously, carefully and sparingly.
